Arten regnes som tamsvinets vilde forfader. Vildsvinet er alt\u00e6dende og meget tilpasningsdygtigt. <\/p>\n<p>I Mellemeuropa stiger bestanden i \u00f8jeblikket, is\u00e6r p\u00e5 grund af \u00f8get dyrkning af majs, og vildsvinet indvandrer i stigende grad til beboede omr\u00e5der.<\/p>\n<p>I Danmark betragtes vildsvinet som kritisk truet, p\u00e5 grund af bek\u00e6mpelse og der kun er f\u00e5 ynglende s\u00f8er i naturen.<\/p>\n<h2>Udbredelse<\/h2>\n<p>Vildsvinet er hjemmeh\u00f8rende i skovomr\u00e5der i st\u00f8rstedelen af Europa og Asien samt i Nordafrika og p\u00e5 Sunda\u00f8erne. Arten er siden blevet indf\u00f8rt til dele af b\u00e5de Sydamerika, Nordamerika og Australasien.<\/p>\n<p>Vildsvinet udd\u00f8de i Danmark som fritlevende dyr i begyndelsen i 1801. Det sidste vildsvin blev skudt ved Silkeborg. Siden er vildsvinet genindvandret fra det nordlige Tyskland og er observeret over hele S\u00f8nderjylland. <\/p>\n<p>Der advokeres imidlertid for, at tillade vildsvinet i Danmark, s\u00e5 p\u00e5buddet om at nedl\u00e6gge alle vildsvin fjernes, s\u00e5 der igen kan komme fritlevende vildsvin i de danske skove. <\/p>\n<p>I dag udryddes vildtlevende vildsvin i Danmark straks de opdages p\u00e5 grund af frygt for, at vildsvin skal smitte tamsvin med afrikansk svinepest.
